Tom's Principles for Cooking

  1. Teach them correct principles and then throw away the recipe books.
  2. Remember what you learned in chemistry class
  3. You can never go wrong with butter, cream and garlic
  4. When cooking for guests, never try out a new recipe – and always make more than you need – if it was worth making for guests it will either all be eaten up or will make great leftovers
  5. Measuring cups and spoons are a sign of weakness
  6. Never make the same thing twice
  7. For most people, simple spices are better – it’s amazing what you can do with just butter, salt and pepper
  8. Tender crisp vegetables are the equivalent to a lukewarm approach to the gospel and should be dealt with as set forth in Revelation 3:16
  9. Taste as you go
